It includes an inventory of PPB cases worldwide, detailed descriptions of about a dozen illustrative cases, analysis of key technical and institutional issues, and assessment of gaps in current knowledge regarding PPB methods, organization and results. For the purposes of this document PPB is defined as approaches that involve close farmer-researcher collaboration to bring about plant genetic improvement within a species.
