What will I find in each area of the PRGA website?

The PRGA website has eight main areas. Here's what each one offers.

Home and Helpdesk

The HOME hyperlink allows you to return to the home page of the PRGA website from any other location in the site.

The HELPDESK is a collection of Frequently Asked Questions specifically about this website and how to use it. If you do not find the answer to your question, you can submit it to the administrator by clicking on ASK A QUESTION. You may also contact the site administrator. To do this navigate to the

USER DIRECTORY in the COMMUNITY WORKSPACE area of the left-hand navigation column. The administrator's username is PNADMIN. Click on "P" to find PNADMIN in the list of registered users and then click on PNADMIN. You can then send a message to the administrator by clicking on SEND A PRIVATE MESSAGE TO PNADMIN.

Search

You may SEARCH for resources and information by entering key words. You may limit your search to PRGA PUBLICATIONS or RECOMMENDED RESOURCES.

If you search the ENTIRE SITE, the search engine will check for downloadable documents, weblinks, news stories, user comments and frequently asked questions containing these key words. If you only wish to search certain categories simply uncheck those you do not wish to include.

Research

This area is devoted to the five main research themes of the PRGA program. Two of these, Plant Breeding and Natural Resource Management, are the focus of PRGA working groups. Information about each of these groups can be accessed through the "PPB Working Group" and "NRM Working Group" menu links in the Community Workspace. To learn more about some of the participatory research and gender analysis initiatives at CGIAR centers follow the link to the the "PR & GA in the CGIAR" section.

Resources

This area offers:

* Top Ten Resources, the most popular content on this site

* Online publications by the PRGA Program. These are organised by research theme and type of publication.

* A library of online tools and methods and learning resources relevant to the PRGA's five research themes of participatory plant breeding, participatory natural resource management, gender & diversity, impact assessment and mainstreaming. The library is a navigational guide to all the resources on the PRGA website. These are organised topically. Registered users of the site may submit resources.

* The Resource Center developed by the PRGA's working group on Participatory Natural Resource Management. The Center features methods and tools developed by members, products of collaborative activities and recommended resources and websites.

* Special Features that bring together timely information about topics of interest to the PRGA community.

* "Expertise", a database of practitioners of Participatory Research and Gender Analysis

* An inventory of projects on participatory plant breeding and participatory natural resource management

* Capacity building resources and information

* Frequently Asked Questions and answers about the PRGA Program and this website. If you have a question that has not already been answered, please make sure you are a registered user and then post your question. The site administrator will receive and handle your question.

Community Workspace

The community workspace is a set of interactive tools and resources to support the participatory plant breeding and participatory natural resource management working groups. The tools are only available to registered users of this site.

They include:

* A directory of registered users

* A calendar of PRGA events

* Links for submitting news articles, documents and for recommending weblinks

* An online discussion forum for the PNRM Working Group. This is accessible only to members of the group

* Virtual meeting rooms (chat rooms). These are available to registered users who wish to interact with colleagues online.

* The World Clock. A useful website for managing online collaboration among people in different time zones

* Tools for Collaboration and Innovation. Tools for communicating, brainstorming and teamwork

About Us

This area presents offers a program description with general information about the objectives, approach, donors, partners, governance and staff of the PRGA Program, a summary of main achievements during the first 5 year phase (1997-2001), a description of the focus for the current phase of the program, and contact details.

Site Options

This area provides registered users with access to their accounts. Site use statistics are publically available through the site statistics link.

Who's Online?

Who's online tells you how many guests and registered users are online with you and if you are logged in it shows your username.
