International Rural Women’s Day is observed on October 15th every year. Globally, there is a number of events that take place to commemorate the day such as panel discussions, publishing of research papers, and conferences are also held to review and analyze rural women's role in society, particularly in areas such as economic improvement and agricultural development.

The PRGA Program will celebrate this important day reaching out to a group of rural women from the Cauca Valley Region in Colombia. The women, producers of grains, vegetables, flowers, milk products and processed foods, were invited to join the celebration of International Food Day at CIAT's in order to raise awareness of their pivotal role to enhance food security in their communities. The event will take place at CIAT Arches from 10 to 1 pm, on Friday October 15 . Local authorities, diplomats, representatives from rural organizations and the whole body of CIAT’s researchers will join them in celebration.
